I'll bite. So if the argument isn't that more guns make us safer (because we can defend ourselves), then what is the argument?
As long as criminals have guns (and they get them illegally, by the way), I am happy we own a gun and at least have a chance to adequately defend ourselves in the event some nut bag decides to break into our house.
That doesn’t mean there are not risks. Guns, nor people are infallible.
And if you are 1) asleep 2) not able to get to your gun in time/bad guy gets the jump on you
What use is the gun then? None. It is more likely to be used against you/someone in your household than against a burglar in a home invasion.
Enjoy your false sense of security. I personally would rather have a home alarm system and/or a dog to ward off break ins.

I'm not suggesting that we disarm our police force.
But I am tired of hearing that guns are the answer to our safety problems. Like when there is a school shooting, and then gun advocates say "if only the teachers had guns, this never would have happened." This idea is continuously propagated despite so many examples that demonstrate that more guns do not make us safer.
