If you are not finding what you want I would expand your search. You might check STEM preschool in Fairlington-- it is newly opened in the last couple of months so it is likely to have space.

For daycare, are you only looking for a center or are you willing to consider a licensed in home provider?

Where are you and your husband working? Availability on short notice is going to be your problem. I would call every single place that is feasible for you- both near your new home, near your office, and on your commute. Then once you find who has availability focus your research on those places.

Is annandale play care is a good school

Currently my son is 2 years 11 months. He could tell alphabets, shape, color and count 1-10. He goes to a play school which is play based too and they are incorporating curriculum too but they are not certified. He likes it so much here. I wish We could stay where we are. But bcz of our work we need to move and we do not have much time left to make a decision. I m waiting with my fingers crossed that I would get a good place for my son. I need a place which will take care of my son with love and compassion . I do not want him to be counted as an additional number to their program like some chain brand schools do. Please suggest moms. Thank u

Thank you all. I have not toured any daycares yet. Because I live 2 hours away from Nova right now. I'm just trying to figure out what I could find for my son before we move. We hv to move by April. And I called Country woodland they said I'm on wait list. Hope Montessori is in sprinkle break. I really need something soon and best for my son. Might be Il call carousel tomorrow to find out whether they have a spot. We are planning on visiting nova Friday and plan to tour few schools.

I found grasshopper green classrooms very small and crowded - it's an old building. Have you toured it? MSNV was my favorite (but much more expensive) followed by Hope. Most of the others we visited had very small classrooms, no natural light and/or small play areas (Grasshopper Green does have a good playground but I couldn't get past the size of the classroom). I didn't tour Carousel so I can't speak to it.

My son attended Carousel Child Development Center in Annandale on Woodburn Rd from infant til he was almost 3 years old (we moved so had to leave). It is a wonderful daycare with lovely teachers and staff that have been with the center for many years. So yes it is very "safe" and the kids get a lot of loving attention. My son missed Carousel and talked about wanting to return for at least 6 months after he left.

That said, not sure if Carousel is what you are looking for in a preschool as it is play-based not academic. The center does follow a weekly curriculum from early toddler onward and my son learned to speak well at an early age, and letters and numbers but again stress is on play, relationships, social skills, not preschool reading and math (though pre-K probably is academic).

Some of the other area academic and Montessori schools in the area were out of our price range. I think the more modest daycares/preschools are a lot more affordable while still providing a good (enough) learning experience for the children.

Hope is great if you are wanting Montessori. They have a 5 day program and a wonderful after care. The Griffin Academy is in Annandale - also has 5 day program with before/after care. Great teachers and school. It's a more play-based curriculum.

I'm moving from central va and have 3 year old son. It's lot stressful . Because I'm very concerned about my sons daycare. I'm looking for a nice safe place with teachers paying so much attention and loving care and good academics too. Any one of you could you pl suggest me a good daycare with safety and academics? I'm thinking country woodlands, Springfield academy and grasshopper green.? Any one have any idea about these schools? Or any other best place. But most of these places have long wait list.

So could you please suggest a very best place for my son. I'm so stressed he is really happy in his current daycare. But we have to move because of my husbands as well as my job. No other go. Any suggestions. Whatever it is at the end of day I need my son is safe and taken care of well. I'm very nervous as it's going to be new for us in NOVA.

Grasshopper green has opening coming up in 3-4 months is it worth a wait to have a spot there please help.
