Barbour Thronproof Dressing -- you can order it from Amazon. Orvis, etc.

I just put the can of wax in a bowl of hot water and then use a new sponge to wipe the wax on the coat. I put it on the floor on top of a towel. I don't like it really shinny, so I don't use a hairdryer to max the wax shinny. Takes like 30 minutes.

People who are saying buy a new one, just don't get what is great about these coats. These are coats you darn, patch and keep for twenty years, they just get better and better.

+1. They only get better with age. People keep them for decades.

I watched a youtube video on how to do it...but never actually got around to it. That's on my to-do list. Would love tips.

But honestly waxing your own coat seems ridiculous. Admit it. I would just get a new one

They are just coats, definitely not rich people coats. Mine was on sale for less than $200. I wear it 3 seasons and with the wax it works as a raincoat as well as a warm jacket.

Mine is 3 years old. I am taking it in to the store as soon as it warms up and they will send it in.

Hell, a jacket that has to be waxed? I can't even be bothered to wax my car. I looked up the instructions on their site... this looks awful.

Do you wax it yourself - would it be easy to do it living in an apartment? Or do you send it in to the Barbour store so that they ship it to the factories?
