Mine often tells me that I'm a great mom. She also likes to say that DH is lucky to have married me. She's a pretty nice and helpful person in general. We get tons of free babysitting from her.

This is random and inadvertent from her part but mine didn't think breastfeeding was important. She was from the era where she got a shot in the hospital to stop her milk from coming in. This is strange but when I failed at breastfeeding knowing that one person wouldn't think it was a big deal or care meant a lot to me. Its hard to explain but having her roll her eyes and say "of course formula is fine, its so much easier!" just gave me a sense of non-judgement relief I needed during a big disappointing experience.

Once she told me something I cooked was good.

MIL and FIL cleaned up our first apartment in prep for a local move to our first house. I was sixth months pregnant and very ill.

Just like a PP, mine has told me I am a good mom.

She also did an absolutely fantastic job raising my DH. I silently thank her for that all the time.

It's what mine hasn't done that I appreciate. She doesn't intrude, give her opinion or say anything negative. That's good enough.

She really wanted her son to marry either the woman she had arranged him to marry when they were kids or another woman from their country, or at the very least the same religion. After the wedding however, she accepted me as her DIL and it hasn't been mentioned again, as far as I know.

Mine just watched my son for nearly a week so I could tag along on her son's (my DH) work trip. I was in dire need of a vacation, and it was her idea to see if this might work.

Mine told me Im a good mom.

She gets my kids really thoughtful gifts, on a small budget.

She drives me crazy sometimes, but she's a sweet person deep down.

Mine is very kind and supportive. I think I have more respect for her than DH does!

Mine hasn't ever said one mean word to me.

Bought herself, my infant DD, and my niece matching tracksuits, and hers has "Grammie" embroidered on the monogram. It definitely showed me that her heart is in the right place.

MIL drove herself (6+ hours) to my house to take care of my 6yr. DD when I was at the hospital having DC #2 at the hospital. Stayed at my house for 4 days, cleaned the house, cooked dinner, took care of our pet, and entertained DD while I took care of the newborn. We don't always see eye-to-eye, but we can get past our differences and help each other out when push comes to shove.

Mine is awesome.

She is helpful, a pleasure to be with and goes out of her way to help out with the grandkids, etc. She is also generous and a genuinely good person.
