And the part about DW handling her mother is right. It's nice of you to be concerned for your wife (whom you want to enjoy the event without drama, I'm sure) and for the MIL, but it's up to your wife to handle her mom, as it would be up to you to deal with these kinds of issues on your own side of the family.
