I'd much rather have a title that gives me enough information to know that I have absolutely no desire to know any more about the topic.

Baby cut from woman when she answers a Craigslist ad? Yep. That's enough to tell me I don't want to read more about it.

"DC Emergency Medical Response Toddler Story" - unless I already know the tragic details, I have no idea what the hell that thread is about.

At least the person who used to "like to discuss" worldwide shocking, disturbing things seems to have vanished.

The toddler one is I think an important DC one, because it's more about the horrible services we receive from the DC ambulance service. And the Craigslist one is also ok for DCUM because so much of the site is about motherhood. Some of the truly sick things that happen around the world though - I'm glad those postings have tapered off a little.

For example, instead of the toddler choking to death, it could read "DC Emergency Medical Response/Recent Toddler Story" or the pregnant lady one could read "Recent Craigslist Murder."

I feel like that would help if people were a little more vague.

Agreed. The current titles seem made to disturb and shock.

I agree OP. Thread titles should NOT be that graphic/ disturbing. There should be a disclaimer in the title, IMO.

The chocking story is sad and tragic, but hardly "shocking." If merely reading or hearing about stories like that affects you so seriously, you should probably stay off the internet.

And I saw it on the news. If I don't want to read the details I don't need them in the blurb of off topic

I agree, hate the disturbing thread info. Put the details in the first post. Put a warning. Too many horrible, haunting awful things that I can't do anything about. I wish I could.
