It's not a closed file. It's yours if you ask for it. But the only thing in it that you haven't already seen are the screening summary sheet (a list of all test scores you already know about), the GBRS and whatever work samples the school submitted. None of these are necessary for anything you will do in the future. The GBRS is interesting because you can see what the teachers said about your child at the time he was going through the screening process, but not necessarily relevant now. I requested DD's during the screening process because I was curious about the GBRS. Two years later, I wouldn't bother asking for it.

Hi, this is OP. So it's a closed file? I thought it was like any other file that belonged to my child, I could just request it. If it is closed, and it is a hassle to do, then I won't do it.

Contact your school's AART and ask to get a copy of your son's AAP application file. If you don't know who your AART is, then ask your school's office staff or look on your school's staff directory. They cannot say no. Some schools you have to meet the AART to get it, and some schools make you sign a release form and leave it at the front office for you to pick up. It's up to the AART.

My DS is in currently in Level 4. I was speaking with two moms yesterday and it came up that both of them had their children AAP files or something to that effect. They told me it was good to have for my records. How or who do I ask for this file? Do I just go to the school and say "Hello, I would like to request a copy of my son's Level 4 file?" or "I would like to request my son's AAP application file?" I don't even know what to call it. Can they say no? Thanks!
