BYU is starting what is expected to be a highly regarded engineering school with a strong business focus.

It will be called MITT.

Early rounds results only. In addition to the one cited above, thirteen others to H/P/S/Y. Three additional to Columbia and Cornell. I cannot id the school, cannot say whether private or public, cannot say whether regional or national.

Since we all know that at least one student from some school somewhere got into MIT this year, how do you see this as information worth sharing?

2-3 seem to go from Whitman each year. But you can look at the Bethesda Magazine list for info on the Bethesda/Potomac/Rockville schools for more data.

For the third year in a row, 0 from Churchill.

Maybe MIT hates the school seeing as there's lots of kids going to Ivies, Caltech, Stanford, Duke, Chicago, top liberal arts, etc. Same kids apply to MIT and nope.

These questions are almost always from students at the public magnets. To save everyone time, more TJ grads will go to MIT than the top privates combined. But, there are more private school students at the Ivies and Stanford because they are more oriented toward liberal arts. There are just different kinds of students with different interests. And they are all great children whose parents deserve to be proud.

Would be interested to know how many students were admitted to MIT from the various private (sidwell, gds, NSC, Maret, st albans, NSC, Potomac) and public (Blair, TJ, Whitman, Langley) high schools, if anyone knows.
