I just saw it with my 9 yo DD. We really enjoyed it. The dark parts did not seem to faze her. The Frozen short before the movie was cute. That said, the audience was annoying! There were tons of kids and parents have not taught their kids how to behave in movies (don't be distracting). Lots of talking, running up and down the aisles to go to the bathrooms, you name it. My DD mentioned it on the way out - she said that she thought the kids must be really young to act like that. I think she missed that not all of the kids were super young. Many of the girls looked to be between 8 - 11, so they really should have known better.

Oh, and the Frozen short was great. If your kid loves Frozen, they'll enjoy the short a lot.

I think it's okay, yes. It's not scary at all, and has a great message. It might be good to review the basic story before you go so your child will have an easier time following what's going on. And just be ready to answer any questions about a parent dying, though not every child will react like my DD and it's not necessarily a bad thing if they do.

What about the Frizen short?

Took DD (8). It was beautifully done and very well-acted (Cate Blanchett was incredible to watch). However, a word of warning: it is quite sad and dark at times. There are not one but three deaths of beloved parents (and a fourth character's death is referred to often) and my DD, who is a bit sensitive to such things, was a little sad and had a lot of questions afterward. I was grateful for the moments of levity, with the cute mice and the fairy godmother. There were plenty of kids in the audience but I didn't hear much laughter. Also, my DD has a speech delay and some of the language went over her head but that's probably unique to her situation.

I did enjoy it a lot, it was well done.
