The Whole county, but their Science, Math, Comp
Sci classes can't compete with Blair's.

No coincidence. Let me be clear that Blair doesn't produce Intel winners, the Blair magnet program does.

The reason you see so many from the Blair magnet is because

1. it is the only program that gets students from across the county. For example, the Blair winner hails from North Bethesda.
2. Blair pushes kids to find a mentor for their senior research project and pushes them to enter competitions. Take a look at the available courses at Blair and you will find that there is no way you could get the background to do the research these kids claim to have done.

These competitions certainly do have high barriers of entry. Finding a lab to do work in isn't easy and having family/school to help you out is a huge leg up.

Actually they do help - there is a whole class that leads up to these projects & they assist in finding mentors for these kids. Their advanced math, science, comp Sci wouldn't exist without the school! Congrats to the winner & blair. There's av reason they've won more than ANY other school!!!
