Great question. I'm 40. I'm more artsy than corporate, and I can get away with just about any kind of jewelry at work (big and small). Most of my clothes are Boden, Garnet Hill, Nordstrom, with the classic mom Old Navy/Gap stuff thrown in.

You might consider a local jeweler that creates their own designs, like Aspen Jewelry Designs in Herndon. This may not be to your taste, but there are other independent jewelry designers in the area. Going out of the city brings pricepoint down a bit too.

For $900 you should have a ton of options. How big do you want it to be? Do you want a stone or could it be gold or silver?

Could you look through Tiffany's catalog?

Heck, i was at Lord and Taylor looking through their jewelry and saw some fun, bigger but clean-lined gemstones I really liked, about $600.

I don't hate it but I feel like that ship has sailed, KWIM? It feels very late-90s to me.

I have a couple of David Yurman pieces that I love. I'm Southern, so I don't mind looking pretty.

Too large and chunky for me.

I think they must be 70 years old. It looks tacky and dated to me.

It's a matter of taste, but you asked for opinions. I've never seen any of his stuff that looks good to me. Gaudy, overwrought, overdone. Don't do it.

I'm thinking about getting a new ring and was looking at some David Yurman options - some I really like, others I think are beyond ugly. I know, I know, I should get what I like best - but I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion about them. What do you think when you see someone wearing David Yurman pieces? TIA!
