Which is actually pretty important, IMO. You don't get enough of that in school.

I thought it was good for 6 months, and then my kids' interested waned and it became a nightly battle. We did Math Kumon.

We can't afford to do the centers, so we have been doing the workbooks for the past 2 years and I think they're fantastic! I buy them off of Amazon or at Barnes and Noble.
DD does 10 minutes or so a day and I feel like it's helped her math skills a ton. We're in public school and I don't feel like they do enough in the early grades. I hugely recommend the workbooks!

Subject: Kumon - any regrets ?
Some of my high school students are tutors at kumon. They are good math students, but they have no experience/background in teaching whatsoever, so I'd be hesitant to pay kumon prices for what they're offering.

Start now. I LOVE the way the workbooks are arranged.
Like any extracurricular academics at his age - if he enjoys it, it can only help him.

We did Kumon on a fluke with DS at six. DD needed extra help to keep up with her 3rd grade class and I wasn't going to let DS, 6, just sit there while she did her tutoring so he did math there as well (even though he was a grade level). Well, his interest and math and math scores skyrocketed! It was great to see him so excited about math and he jumped way ahead of his class which was also a motivation for him to keep going!
Like everything else, it all has to do with the tutor. But both kids are really benefitting from the extra work.

Considering Kumon to supplement my 6yo dd's Investigations math curriculum. Any of you that have done Kumon with your kids regret it ? Any age that is ideal to start at ?
