We were completely torn between 2 schools. DS loved both. We loved both. While waiting on decisions, we would sometimes think school A had the slight advantage only to change our mind to school B the next day. We finally decided to factor in commute and tuition cost to arrive at a decision.

The fact that you're considering and asking just to make yourself feel better, is terrible! Which two schools are you referring to? I will talk you out of coming to my DC's school!

If you agave to think that hard about both places, then neither is probably the right school then. Taking up two spots just because a few thousand dollars means nothing to you is really a selfish thing to do.

If the atmosphere at a sports game was going to be a deciding point, you might want to rethink your criteria. You are torn and either way you will always second guess your decision. That's human nature. No lspark from the sky at a school event is going to make the whole thing suddenly clear like you want it to. Just pick one and move on. Attending a play is not going to make the decision any clearer. Save your money and just choose one.

Surely you had thought a bit about which was better for your child and your family when you applied? Think back and go back to basics. Don't put down two deposits. Push yourself to choose.

OP -- we had been hoping to attend school events at each school -- plays, sports events -- but have been very limited by the multiple snow days and the fact that there were no "home" games during this period. We are completely torn between two schools and genuinely can't decide. We really don't know what to use as the tipping factor.

What is going to change after you put down the deposits to help you make a decision? Is there additional information you're still waiting on, or is this simply an unwillingness to make a choice?

Make your decision now! I made the terrible mistake to postpone our decision in the past, and unlike you I had a valid reason in that family was trying to decide between two different cities, and it was only that much harder to make a decision and withdraw our acceptance some time down the road. It definitely jeopardized our future with the school we turned down, which as it turns out, we needed and would have liked to apply to later. I repeat, do not do this under any circumstance.

No. Could you get away with it? Possibly, maybe even probably. Should you as a reasonable person do this? Of course not.

No, please don't do this. Open up the spot for one of us waitlisted You will likely be just as happy with either choice, just pick one.

Since the deadline for returning contracts is coming up in a week and we're still unable to choose between two schools, is it acceptable to put down deposits at two schools to give us a bit more time? I understand that we will forfeit the deposit at one school, but we are completely even split on which school.
