I had one OPK show up positive on day 12 of my cycle, which seemed pretty much on-target for my usual cycle. I continued testing until about day 15 but figured that was it and then stopped testing because I didn't see any point to wasting the tests. Now I wonder if I misread that OPK somehow and should have tested later (?). I don't know.

I haven't done an OPK since but might try again now just to see if anything shows up (though now would be REALLY late).

Did the chemical pregnancy resolve itself and you got your period back soon after, or did you have to do something more? How did you know it was a chemical pregnancy at this point?

If you go in to your doctor, is there a way they can tell if you ovulated?

I would keep taking the OPKs, if you have extras. I've posted this before, but the cycle I got pregnant with my DD, I ovulated on day 29 of my cycle. (I got a positive OPK within minutes of negative pregnancy test). It could be that you ovulated later than expected or you haven't ovulated yet, in which case you are still "in the game" this cycle. Depending on your doctor, they may have you come in to see if you have ovulated. If you have, they'll likely tell you to call/come back in if you haven't gotten your period in 14 days. Good luck!

When this happened to me I went to the OB to get a blood test. It was a chemical pregnancy with low hcg that didn't show up on a pregnancy test until a few days after my missed period.
After a week I would make an appointment and get a blood test.

What day did you ovulate?

OP here. So, my period will be a full week late tomorrow, and no signs of it coming.

My usual cycle is 27 days, and right now, I'm on day 33. I took another pregnancy test today after not having taken one since early in the week, and it's still negative.

I'm so irritated with this! What is going on? Am I ever going to get my period? If I'm not pregnant, I'd like to start trying again this month, but that can't ever happen if my period just refuses to show up. This is just weird -- I've never had something like this happen before.

I felt a few things during this week that made me think maybe I was getting cramps, but then nothing would happen, and it turned out it was just a little constipation. I keep thinking, "Okay, finally! Here's my period," but then it doesn't come.

Any thoughts on what's going on? Do I call my doctor if on Monday it's still not here (day 35, which would be 8 days late)? Has anyone else experienced this?

It's very unusual to be pregnant with a negative test, if you have a history of testing positive. You probably just are having an off cycle. It's normal to have one once in a while.

This is the OP. Thanks for the feedback. This is basically exactly what I'm thinking -- that it seems extremely unlikely but there's a little part of me that still wonders! FWIW, I was pregnant once before a few years ago and tested positive on a HPT the day after my missed period, so the hormone showed up on the test then!

But possible. I've posted before about a friend of mine who had negative hpt's for three months, finally went to the dr and turns out she had been pregnant that whole time. It's rare, but there are some people who don't pee out the hcg.

If I were in your shoes, I'd get some cheap tests from the dollar store and keep testing. If it's negative and still no period after a week or two, then I'd call the dr (obviously if you experience any pain, see a dr sooner).

You would probably test positive with an ectopic, but it could be an ectopic or a chemical pregnancy that didn't put out enough HGC to trigger the HPT.

Some people don't get positive HPTs until well after their period and the onset of symptoms. It's unusual but you may be one of them.

Or you may just have had a long cycle. It's normal to have one now and then as you get older. Either way, you should know in a few days. Hang in there, I know it's tough.

I know this sounds stupid, but I'm just curious if there's a possibility I'm missing something. I'm usually very regular about my periods and haven't had any unusual stress this month. But I'm now 2 days late, yet two pregnancy tests show up negative.

We're TTC and using OPKs, and I think we timed it well with when ovulation should have been. My breasts got extremely tender one week before when my period would have been due. This is fairly common as a PMS symptom for me but seemed a little stronger than normal. They remained sore for a solid week and then got slightly less sore around the day when my period would have come, but it didn't. They're still a little tender but not like they were before.

I know I'll probably get my period in a few days, but I'm really surprised by it being late because there's fairly unusual for my "norm." How long should I wait before I test again? If I don't get it in a week, should I call a doctor? Is it possible this could be an ectopic or something?

I'm also surprised because my positive OPKs showed up around the usual timing for my normal cycle length and now would mean a very long LH cycle if I'm not pregnant. Does that seem unusual? I'd love any advice! Thanks!
