Maroon 5 is sure to be a much tamer concert than many, but I still say hell no

No. It's loud crowded and weird at VZ Center during a concert. A lot of drunks. Don't send them alone.

Nope, and I'm also pretty lenient. I took my kids to concerts at that age and would hang back so they could have fun with their friends, but I was always there, always watching. Lots of drunk/high people at concerts on top of opportunists.

I took my daughter and friends to similar concerts until high school when they went alone.

I'd be nervous but probably even the creepiest guys would not grope 12 year olds.

Ha!

I second PP's disbelief. At age 15 when I definitely looked like I was still in middle school (had barely started developing, if you take my meaning) a creepy guy decided it was OK to hit on me and try to get handsy. I left the area, quickly. Unfortunately not all people respect boundaries, or children's innocence. And "the creepiest guys" definitely cannot be relied upon to do so.

No maybe at 15 but not 12

Have they been to other concerts before with adults?

If so and a lot of them, maybe.

If not, no.

I let Niece age 15, who was already accompanying her own sister Niece age 13, escort DDs age 12 under similar circumstances, but I wouldn't be comfortable with 2 middle schoolers going alone if they aren't already VERY experienced at attending similar concerts.

I'm pretty lenient but I say no. Too much potential for bad situations that two 12 year olds can't properly handle.

A friend invited my daughter to come with her to the Maroon Five concert at the Verizon Center. The catch: She has just two tickets, and they're general admission to the "pit," so they'd have to go without an adult. They're seventh-graders. Seems sort of unsafe to me but I don't have a real sense of whether it's common for kids that age to attend this kind of concert on their own, or what sort of stuff goes on in the "pit"--is it just dancing and screaming or will it turn to a mosh pit situation? Any advice welcome.
