I am and have offered. I'm helping him get whatever new furniture he needs and even offered to help him sort through his things to help him pack. Tomorrow afternoon is the first time he is starting this process and with his parents apparently. At this point I'll help him with whatever's left I guess.

Moving is hard and stressful and you are happy to take any help you can get. No, he should not have asked them to help him move on a different day, especially not for a brunch that can happen anytime.

Because, Princess, not everybody believes the world revolves around them. Some of us graciously accept help when it is offered and available. We don't believe everyone should drop their plans to accommodate our activities when they're doing something out of kindness for us.

Not as much as (a) the fact that you're not helping him move probably irks him and (b) the improper use of "my girlfriends and i" irks the grammar Nazi in me.

He's moving. That's a PITA, and he happens to have help. Moving always takes longer than you think and he's realized how much work it is and how nice it is to have help.

Brunch with you and your bffs can happen another weekend.

Moving is stressful. If he has help for Saturday he should take it. I'm sure he doesn't want to humor your girlfriends, but it is a legitimate excuse not to.

so my bf just got a new apartment and he is trying to move into it this weekend and the next. a week ago i scheduled for him to join my girlfriends and i for brunch and we said he'd be there and that he'd spend sunday doing move-in stuff. he just called me however saying he has to cancel since his parents are helping him with the move only at that time. i don't know how i feel about this. would this irk you?
