When you have more than one child, you face the possibility that they will be in different schools. I had kids at different elementary schools, as you do, and it was fine. I've found the schools tend to coordinate their events so you can get to both.

I know a parent with kids at three different schools-one is a special ed placement about 15 miles from their house, one is the local school, and one is the AAP center. It is not uncommon to have kids at several different schools.

I kids at two elementaries -- base school and AAP, and no of another mom who had kids for a year at 3 elementaries -- yes, three separate AAP centers, Louise Archer, Westbriar and Colvin Run. As other PP have noted, be happy you have a choice, but remember it is a choice. If you want to have all your kids at the same school for convenience sake, you are going to have to make a sacrifice somewhere. AAP centers are also base schools for some and not designed to hold siblings of AAP kids.

OP was not complaining, IMO. She just stated the facts and asked for additional info.

Thank you, PP, for stating this. So many AAP parents feel entitled to the choices they are given, when the other parents (of Gen Ed kids) are offered no choices whatsoever re: where their kids go to school. I'm extremely tired of listening to parents of AAP students complain about where their kids go to school, when they are given choices the rest of us are not.

Our AAP center does not accept transfers so most of us have kids at two different elementary schools. not a big deal. Of course, it would be better to have the kids at the same school, but you get used to it.

The biggest problem for us was the fact that our AAP kid would get home almost 2 hrs later than our non-AAP kid every day if AAP kid rode the bus home. We have decided to pick AAP kid up every day to give him one hour back. It was still an issue b/t the two kids at the beginning of the year b/c non-AAP kid would be done with homework and ready to play when AAP kid got home. This caused frustration b/c I wanted AAP kid to do homework before darting off to play. But, that made it seem like punishment to AAP kid. So, I allow AAP kid to play for awhile when we arrive home and then do homework.

If we weren't happy with the AAP program, we'd bring AAP kid back to base school, but it seems to be working out well with a little flexibility (and the commitment of driving to pick up AAP kid everyday).

Yep - I have that, one at base and one at AAP outside of the boundary we're in. Are you talking about Colvin Run by any chance? (AAP Center). My younger kid is in the pool for AAP - but if she gets in, she will go to Louise Archer so still two schools.

AAP is a choice so I'm not complaining. I could have kept both at my base school.

Same here. Had a 3rd grader at AAP Center and younger was in preschool. Following year, 4th grader was at AAP Center and younger was in K at neighborhood school. Ultimately older was in middle school and younger was found eligible for AAP Center.
