Not necessarily. She could probably get preferential treatment in the military or in joint apprenticeship trades programs.

Well, according to the article, African Americans get 230 points automatically added to their SAT scores and Hispanic students get 185 points added.

I'm mixed race, but that seems ridiculous on many levels. First off, not every single AA child is disadvantaged and less intelligent. Maybe if they took SES into consideration, it would be more relevant. But strictly adding points for race seems off.

This is why I mark my 1/2 Asian kids as Mixed Race on any school form that asks about race! And they have names that don't identify them as Asian.
