Oh, and we did them at the Howard County Public Library on Cradlerock in Columbia.

We did brand new passports for our children (they've never had before). We went 1/17, date of issue was 2/5 and we received them 2/18. We were told 4-6 weeks and got them in 32 days, so pretty close.

1. Don't shell out the extra cash and hope it'll be done in under 6 weeks.
2. Shell out the extra cash and relax knowing it'll be there in time.

This.

For peace of mind I would just pay the expedite fee. My DS passport took 3 weeks, but why risk it?

We just renewed our kids' passports and I don't remember exact timing but I'm thinking about three weeks. Maybe difference got renewal versus new?

Did ours the last week of January. New one arrived second week of February! Fastest turnaround we've ever had.

We did ours in December and it took 6 weeks. Now that could have been for the rush of holiday travel there were a lot of extra passports to process.

They quote you 4-6 weeks because sometimes it takes 6 weeks. Your choice is fairly simple:

1. Don't shell out the extra cash and hope it'll be done in under 6 weeks.
2. Shell out the extra cash and relax knowing it'll be there in time.

We just got one. I think it took three weeks, although it could've been two.

We did it January 6th and got the passports by the end of the month. They also quoted 4-6 weeks. I think if you wait u til 2 weeks before travel you can get it same day at the passport office.

They are quoting 4-6 weeks on the passport website. Did it really take 6 weeks? We are leaving the country 6 weeks from Saturday, but our appointment is not until next Wednesday. Worried I won't make the cutoff. This is a renewal for child's passport that is expired. Anyone have very recent experience?
