I imagine the Amos 2 kids would get most of the spots. In any case, there should be very few for PK4--it's only through attrition, and it's a popular school with a long waitlist.

Didn't Butler move to the Amos 2 campus? Or was it Amos 1? It was definitely dual language but moved from NW to one of the Amos campuses last year.

Amos 2 only goes through first or second grade, right? And it's not bilingual. I wonder how hard that merger will be for those kids. At least DC Bilingual seemed to really value art from the tour last year so there's one thing the schools have in common.

Amos 2 has over 300 students, so about a third of them will end up at the new DC Bilingual, while the others will attend either Friendship, a school through the lottery, or their right-to-attend DCPS neighborhood school.

Dear CAPCS Parents and Guardians,

This morning, the District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (PCSB), an independent board, voted to revoke the charter for Community Academy Public Charter School (CAPCS). While the vote will undoubtedly cause angst for the 1,600 CAPCS students and their families, the District of Columbia is ready to make sure that the needs of the students are met for the 2015-16 school year.

At the request of Mayor Bowser, I developed a plan in collaboration with Friendship Public Charter Schools, DC Bilingual Public Charter School, and the Chancellor of DC Public Schools to provide as much continuity as possible for CAPCS students and families.

Armstrong Campus (1400 First Street, N.W.): Friendship Public Charter School will assume operations beginning next school year (2015-16) for all 523 students.

Nicholson Campus/Online Academy (1351 Nicholson Street, N.W.): Friendship Public Charter School will assume operations beginning next school year (2015-16) for all 123 students.

Burdick Campus (1300 Allison Street, N.W.): DC Public Schools will assume operations beginning next school year (2015-16) for all 590 students.

Keene Campus (33 Riggs Road, N.E.): DC Bilingual Public Charter School will relocate to this site with its 350 students and add up to 90 students from Keene. Students at Keene may also attend Friendship PCS with a guaranteed seat.

In addition, you may apply to the My School DC lottery by March 2 for any other public charter school or out-of-boundary DCPS school. Please note that there will be enrollment fairs for Friendship, DC Bilingual, and DCPS (please check DCPS’ and PCSB’s website on Monday). DC Bilingual will hold open houses on February 21st and 28th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at 1420 Columbia Road, NW. School enrollment specialists also will be made available for one-on-one meetings with you to help determine the best school for your child. You may reach them at 202-328-2660.

What letter? Can you post it here to clarify? Thanks!

Didn't the letter say that DCB would take up to 90 students, and that the Amos 2 families would have the right to enroll at Friendship? It sounds like there will be a lottery for the CAPCS families who want to enter DCB, with up to 90 slots given out, and then the remainder of the kids going to friendship.

So, what will happen to the students at CAPCS Amos 2?

Will the students enroll automatically at DC Bilingual?

Will DC Bilingual keep all the students and absorb some CAPCS?

Will CAPCS students enter the lottery like everyone else?

Does anyone know? If you can, send links to clarify or support your information.
