I did a review on Capital City back in November after attending the open house.

Loved the administration. Nice facilities and diverse student body.

I toured Cap City this year as part of my PS3 rounds and was very impressed. We are ranking our IB school first, but unless the commute would be prohibitive, it's certainly worth a serious look.

If one had an option of the best 2% schools, Cap City wouldn't even cross their mind. Why ask?

Better for upper than 98% of the schools in DC.

But if you have an option of the other 2% - would you go?

Yes. Let's be real, unless you live IB WOTP, there aren't many options for better.

I agree with this - and also most of the EC programs get mentioned. Most of the parents with older kids aren't as stressed out about the school situation as the PS PK parents.

Probably just too hard to get into. 2R, Haynes don't get much mention any more either.

Nope! Just wondering what the current conventional wisdom is. I won't be able to visit every single school in person, so I do have to eliminate some based on internet research alone though.

Heee, both of you are silly. Asking DCUM its opinion about a charter school is neither asking whether the Anonymouses think "it's cool" nor is it "conventional wisdom" by any means. Ugh, you might be able to extract some wisdom from the pile, but you probably will have to wade through some crap. Not quite as bad as dumpster diving for fresh veggies, no, but you know, some crap.

I'm interested in this too.

We loved Cap City when we toured it last year, but it was just too far for us to be able to do the commute on a daily basis, so it didn't make our list.

I don't see people on DCUM talking about Cap City much any more. Two Rivers still gets mentions, but not Cap City. Has it fallen out of favor? Is the new location too far out? What's the deal there? Trying to figure out if I want it on my lottery list (next year - not this year, so I still have time to do actual research)
