Do you not think that you will qualify for FA? (Many, many families that earn under $180K will qualify for some FA.)

Please, please educate yourself about college costs--few people actually pay the "sticker price" of college, and it pains me to read of parents who don't allow their kids to even apply to dream schools because they (wrongly) think that they will have to fork over $200K for college.

unlike other college merit grants there is no GPA requirement to maintain for DCTAG because it for all residents attending public institutions or HBCUs.

This isn't true. As other PP's have stated it is up to $10,000 per year for a public institution. I believe the confusion may be that the original legislation was for DC residents to receive in-state tuition, but what was actually passed was $10,000 (however, don't quote me on that - that's from my memory which is fuzzy sometimes….)

What do DCPS parents do about tuition? They move to Virginia and send their children to UVA!

This is false. For DCTAG, students get up to $10k a year to cover the difference between in state and out of state tuition. They can get it for four years and then they have maxed out. It will not cover in state tuition. BTDTGTTS.

^^ Where are the $10 schools??

I don't know which schools have less than a $10,000 difference for OOS tuition but it's important to note DCTAG is up to $10,000.

No, they receive $10k for a public institution and $2,500 for a private institution per year. DC has not increased the amount in 15 years, while colleges and universities have gone up.

Don't DC residents receive in-state tuition in certain states if not all? If you are willing to move, I'd move to VA instead of MoCo since the Va university systems has many more highly regarded options than MD, which basically has UMd and then a far drop below.

Merit scholars, DCTAG, work study and student loans. Have your children work hard in school. Many organizations only offer scholarships to DCPS students. It will be okay.

I’m currently enrolled in the DC College Savings program for my two kids, but don’t think it will be enough to cover the cost of tuition for 4 years, for both kids.

Reading previous threads, it doesn’t look like the DC Tag program will offset the bill either.

I currently have a 7th grader at Deal and a 9th grader at Wilson. Should I move to nearby Montgomery County (Westland- B-CC ) to benefit from the in state tuition at the various colleges and universities?
