Yes, our 10th grader is doing it online as P/F right now. She is a great student, so we did have to remind her that a D is considered passing, so she would keep the pace up and not get bogged down. She will probably finish by spring break. The schedule is given but kids can do at their own pace. There is no teacher student interaction other than emails saying you're not on target to finish by year end etc.

From what I hear, if taken in school, it's an easy A. However, by doing it online she now has another elective available to her or alternatively, an easier load senior year and more time for her time-intensive outside activity.

AP Micro is one semester and AP Macro is the other semester but in our school when you register for AP Econ you are enrolled in both. There is not an option to take only one or the other. The kids take two AP exams at the end of the year. Just an FYI, from our DD's experience AP Econ was significantly more work than the regular Personal Finance course but for her it was worth it based on her college major

My DS just plans on taking this course spring semester of senior year rather than wasting summer on it.

Rising 9th grader hasn't taken it yet, will this summer. They're supposed to cover what looks like 2 units a week, so a lot of information. However we expect it is likely to be pretty easy material except for maybe one or two sections, and our DD believes she can power through it quite quickly.

We could be very wrong though, so thoughts from people who have had their kids take it would be much appreciated.

NP- how much time did this on-line course take? (We know some kids who had an online course eat their summer.)

Does anyone have a kid who has taken the course online?

It's 100% online and can be done at the student's own pace as long as they're done with everything by the end date.

I think the class will look fine on a transcript even though it's pass-fail.

For summer there are two choices of date ranges, and each has an associated registration window.
Dates:
Monday, May 4 – Thursday, July 2 (Session 1)
Monday, July 6 – Tuesday August 4 (Session 2)

Registration:
Registration for FCPS students is online.

Registration for Session 1 begins on Monday, March 16, 2015, and ends on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

Registration for Session 2 begins on Monday, March 16, 2015 and ends Monday, June 22, 2015.

Parents/Legal guardians of FCPS students must create an account at https://aceclasses.fcps.edu in order to preregister a student online. Once the counselor approves the course selection, the parent/legal guardian will receive a registration confirmation via email.
Students are not officially registered until the confirmation email is received. Payment must be submitted at the time of registration using MasterCard or VISA credit card.

The cost is as follows -
Tuition:
Full - $100.00
Reduced Lunch - $50.00
