It is the new and cool thing to do. My dd is in 8th grade and many of them think they are bisexual. I think they just think it is different and cool. Who cares? They will decide who to love and it is nice to have an open option instead of being closeted.

Please. The girls are joking. My very straight DD listed herself as being in a relationship with her best friend and from what I could tell it was a pretty common thing to so.

Interesting topic. I was just telling my husband this week our daughter has a surprising amount of gay or bisexual peers at her age. Ninth grade FWIW.

A lot of them claim to be "married" to their best friends. It's not sexual.

As for listing themselves as bisexual I think that's simply a combination of sexuality being fluid for many (most?) people, and society being more open-minded about same sex relationships these days.
