Agreed -- go somewhere you can afford if you want to host -- I'd sooner go to Vermont and not send out invoices than go to Aspen and mail out bills.

Thats where the wealthy stay. If you can afford to, offer what you can. We are the parents who take DS' best friend places. We never want or expect them to offer, but when they do it is very appreciated.

I would make sure that the hotel is the only thing they pay for when it comes to your son. Pay for his ticket, give him $ for ski rentals, food, etc.

My family used to take trips when we could bring friends. My mom never expected them to put any money toward the airfare or room, but did hope that the friends parents would give them some of their own spending money for the time they were there.

That's what I would do. If you are unsure though, you can always ask.

Amazing place but expensive!

My son is invited to go to Aspen over spring break with his good friend and family who go every year. I have never been, am not a skiier. They are staying at the Little Nell, wondering how nice it is? $$$? They are getting three rooms, one for their daughter and friend, one for their son and my son and one for themselves. I feel like maybe we should offer something towards the room...not sure. Is it very expensive, kid friendly (teens)?
