Local rec center offers preschool Sept-June, 9a-noon, M-F for $1500 for the whole year. It's hard to get in though - obviously a lot of people want this option.

There's also a mixed ability preschool program that's primarily targeted as serving kids with some kind of disability or developmental delay, but they also have a number of typically developing children. It's free & by lottery. Sept - June, half day, 3 days a week.

Then numerous co-ops that are 2-3 days a week, half days, with co-oping responsibilities and range $2-4k a year depending on hours and how much the parents have to put in.

$430/month for 5x a week, 9-12:30 in Silver Spring.

Catholic Montessori preschool, M-F 8a-3p, $6,700 or you could do half time for around 4k. It's a school, so off in the summers.

$2600 a year 2 days a week (9-1), Bristow VA (Catholic school)

$400/month for five mornings a week or $300 for 3 mornings (9am-1pm)

During the early years, you are laying the foundation for the rest of life. Try looking at the long-term investment factor, as well.

OP, where are you looking at schools? Price really varies around here by area.

9:30-1pm, 4x/wk, $300 month. 5x/wk is $400.

9:15-12:30 5 days/wk is $560 in Rockville

my kid attends 2 PT programs b/c the only one we could get into (lottery system) was 1 day a week. It is 190 a month for 5 hrs a week. later we heard from another school which met on different days. we decided to enroll her in both. the second program is 2 times a week for about 7 hrs total and that's 345 a month.

We're looking at several different places, but I'm curious what the average cost for a half-day preschool seems to be around here. How much are you paying (preferably for the whole year, but monthly is also okay if that's easier)? How many hours/day is it and how many days/week?
