Know a Sarah/Sally at work. Causes endless professional confusion to her and everyone else.

Sarah here, and never in my life have I heard this or been called Sally!!

Look into old literature. Sally was the traditional nickname for Sarah. Like Nancy was the traditional nickname for Anne.

And just because something is not know by you does not make in nonexistent!

do you know how many personalized gifts that people receive about their name in their lifetime? I know my name is Hebrew for princess, a million times over, I know every pop song or whatever random things people want to tell me about related to my name. Just because I don't know it, doesn't mean I think it is not true...just clearly not something I encountered in 35 years of living with the name- meaning not at all widely excepted.

Like it. Also like Sally/Sallie as a given name. My grandmother is a Sallie.

Traditional nickname for Sarah, and very nice. I've known several.

Never heard of that, I think you would end up doing a lot of explaining.
Why not just name her Sally?

It is a traditional (but not very common these days) nickname for Sarah. (Sadie is also and I like that too but we have a family member with a dog Sadie.)

I think it's lovely. And there is a definite dearth of Sallys these days.

We were going to do that ourselves . . . And then had a boy. Classic nickname.
