Neither of my kids are fans of the gym daycare and DH works a ton of hours so I can't go early in the am or at night while he watches them. When the weather is nice I try to do a lot outside but I don't like to walk/run with the kids in the stroller when it's cold and icy. I know I need to do *something* on a regular basis so I was thinking of getting a used treadmill or elliptical to do in the evenings after the kids are asleep. I keep wondering though if I'll really do it or it will end up being a place to hang clothes or for my kids to play

For those who have some equipment at home, do you use it often? Would you recommend treadmill or elliptical? I feel like I get a better workout on a treadmill but it will have to be upstairs for space reasons and I don't want to be shaking the house running so for that reason I'm leaning towards elliptical. I LOVE MY TREADMILL! I put it in our TV room, and there's a nice out of the way place for it. For me, treadmills are BORING AS ALL HELL, and having a TV to watch is essential for my enjoyment of it. I'm also EXCEPTIONALLY mindful of its danger to curious little kids, so it's turned off, unplugged, and the safety magnet is hidden away up very very high where the kiddies can't get to it.
It received a lot of use these past 7 years since #1 was born. I don't use it much anymore, though, because we just got a dog and that means I'm out walking that little creature instead of plodding on the maquina.
Nonetheless, it's been incredibly wonderful, and my machine was bought used and held up really well. Just the basics: Speed, incline, calories and MPH. I had it tuned up twice since I've had it.
