When they surveyed the parents a students the vast majority wanted a change. It's only on dcum that I hear people are against it.

I don't think it was Starr's idea. When he decided not to change the times last year, the BOE asked him to look at the issue again.

I don't think they;ll pick Starr's proposal. Its an odd one anyway. 20 minutes doesn't address the issue for high schoolers. It just shifts everything up by a small amount of time.

It is not up to BOE at this point right? I mean since Starr is gone, the new person will have to complete the analysis and then take it to the board?? That could be many, many months if ever!

I think the BOE will pick one of the cost based options and punt it to the county council for funding. They'll drop Starr's extension of the elementary school school day increase which was unpopular with parents and the union would tank anyway. Starr knew this and used it as way to just say changing bell times isn't possible. He didn't want to put forward any options with costs because he didn't want to be challenged to take another look at his budget. Starr could care less about bell times but cared greatly about his special programs that produced nothing.

I hope bell time will be moved for HS.
My children will be on the bus for magnets, and 6:30 a.m. is way too early.
