Being the big fish in a small pond probably gives you more leadership opportunities and better recommendations. But the top 10-20% of Whitman does very very well in college admissions and it's a great peer group. So it depends how you think he would stack up against the Whitman peer group.

Jury is still out on DC Charters. Too early to tell.

DC is in MS at Washington Latin and doing well. We love Latin but are considering moving to Montgomery County, mainly because it would be a better commute, although there are other reasons as well, none of which have to do with the school. Looking ahead, is it better to go to a DC charter and do very very well, or go to a school like Whitman and do well but not extraordinarily well compared to everyone else? Of course each situation is different, but in general.
