My best friend does this every morning. Or whoever gets up first. We are in different states. We communicate through text most of the time. So most mornings I send him a text or he does.

Like everyone says, what is the context?

What if your hipbone was sending it to the young single women in his office too? Every morning. Not that he is, but mine did. Said he was just a social person. It made me feel....icky.

He's just trying to keep you on the line. Sorry to say that, OP. I dealt with a guy off and on like that for 4 years, and he was the same way. Finally a therapist told me to get far away from him, that he'd never change. I did that and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

While we were dating DH started a habit of saying "good morning beautiful" every day to me, in person or text. It made him stand out among a crowd of intimacy-fearing DC losers as a caring person. Sometimes when he wakes up in the middle of the night he says it in his sleep. Just to make sure, he says.

so it depends on context, op.

What is your DH like the other times of the day? And in general in your relationship? What are the downsides ? I hope you don't mind me asking. I am trying to figure out what type of guy is best for me next time around, and this kindness sounds wonderful. I am curious about the whole picture though. Thanks.

Well I wouldn't like it if it was from a player just doing his thing. In an exclusive relationship, I love it. It doesn't feel smothering. It's sweet.

OP...just keep putting out and go back to being his side chick. Don't read too much in to the texts.

OP here, it's a guy who I've been having an on and off relationship with. Don't see a future with us as he isn't trying to take things further. I think he wants to stay relevant on my mind, who knows.

I love it when a boyfriend texts me sometime in the morning to say hello.

If it wasn't someone I was exclusive with, I would find it a little odd -- especially if he did it on a daily basis.

They're fishing. See if they get any tugs on Their "line". Are these single guys, married guys, guys from work, salesmen?

What kind of guy sends good morning texts and what role does he have in your life?

I'd expect that from teenage boyfriends, but not adult men. I would actually think it's a little off or shady. It's not behavior that most men adopt unless there's some sort of payoff. IMO. I'd be a little suspicious.

Good morning texts can be sent by 'players' and faithful men alike. You have to find other ways to tell them apart.

I think you're probably neurotic.

They bother me as I think they send them out to multiple women. They aren't genuine at all.
