Wow, that is really pathetic.
I once bought children's clothes online from a major retailer with no stores in DC--so according to current regulations, no tax should have been added. I noticed later that they had added sales tax to the total cost. When I contacted them to complain, they said they had collected taxes on behalf of Maryland. !!!!

It's so frustrating, OP! It happens so often - even outside of applications. I'm constantly amazed at the number of Americans outside of this area who don't "get" what DC really is….they simply don't know, have never been taught and don't realize anything. It's shocking, really!

Every time I have to cal the scholarship admins and get a runaround....
