We had the same experience with Dave Matthews Band at Nissan Pavilion in 2002 or 2003. Haven't seen him since.

The U2 concert at Nats Park a few years ago was a pretty grating experience. On a week night U2 didn't even take the stage until nearly 10pm, people were leaving halfway through because they had to relieve their sitters, and were so pissed. And to top it off, it really wasn't a great show. Another one I don't see myself bothering with again.

No doubt. She is such a horrible live singer! I was shocked how bad it was as it was a pretty huge tour (late 90s) and I would think if she was that bad they would throw some backup tracks on her voice.

David Bowie, Glass Spider tour (Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers were a great opener, though.)

You know who else disappointed me live? Madonna. 2001 concert. I paid $100 and pretty much hated it. It was all this weird stage art and anime shit. She only played a couple of her older songs and her new stuff was crap.

So glad I'm not the only one who thought they were terrible live. I saw them in Camden in the late 90s. I think others didn't notice because they were as drunk/high as Dave was.

He was only slightly better alone at the Obama rally in 2012 out at jiffy lube.

I've never actually been a fan. I mean, their music is ok, but only ok.

This. I wasn't at this particular concert, but Bob Dylan was hand's down the worst concert that I have ever seen. I saw him with the Steve Earle band and I swear they played most of the concert because he was unable to perform. When he was on stage he sat on a stool the entire time because he was too unstable to walk, which was really such a bonus because we couldn't understand a damn word that he was singing.

Next worst concert was the Steve Miller band. They were supposed to open for the Grateful Dead, but Jerry Garcia had his heart attack the night before so the Steve Miller Band was the main attraction. I think the band was so sad about Jerry Garcia that they spent the entire day getting stoned because they forgot lyrics, were off key. just awful.

God, so many....

Neil Diamond, when he was selling out a week at the Cap Centre. Cheesy, full of himself, couldn't hit half the notes anymore. I was alone in that opinion, though; the crowd was positively worshipful.

Frankie Valli--had totally lost his falsetto, which didn't leave much left to his repertoire.

Justin Bieber--this was just before he publicly tanked, so maybe he was having issues already. I think he made a good effort early in his career, but by this tour it was clear he was bored with it all.

The Cure--twice in the '80s. Twice awful.

The Stones in '89--everything that's wrong with arena rock.

Most of the hair '80s bands--particularly, Poison, Warrant, and Skid Row. Pretty much all were arena-level with only a few years' experience in the clubs and were coasting on one hit.

The worst of all are a three-way tie:

The Young and the Useless, Adam Horowitz's punk band; he later joined the Beastie Boys. I saw the Beasties in '87 and they sucked too (although I think "Paul's Boutique" is one of the greatest recordings ever).

Guns 'N Roses, opening for Aerosmith. GNR were the new critics' darling and Aerosmith were trying to come back, so I guess Steven Tyler thought he had something to prove. He totally blew Axl Rose out of the water. GNR were so lame that I fully expected them to fizzle out, but I didn't get that one right...

Jimmy Eat World. So boring.
Imagine Dragons. Kept wheeling their stupid giant drum on and off the stage. Killed the flow.
Counting Crows. Saw them once and they were great. Next time, Adam Duritz was a hot mess.

John Cougar, back when he was still John Cougar, at the Journey Jam in Philadelphia. He was terrible and to make it worse he started kicking over amps and destroying stuff. Years later I read an interview with him where he called it his worst concert ever. Sounds about right.

Explosions in the Sky. I think they're amazing, but they're just boring live. Might as well stay home with the CD.

I posted in the other thread about great concerts. Have you ever been to one that was a big let down?

I saw the Cure in concert in the 90s. Man, they were bad. I don't know if they had an off night, or what, but it was terrible.
