I thought eventually those kids would go to Franklin for middle since Rachel Carson is overcrowded.

That's because of the Center. Oak Hill center kids go to Carson, but Oak Hill feeds into Franklin.

What kids are you referring to? Crossfields ES?

My sister lives in Oak Hill. Her kids go/went to Crossfields ES, Rachel Carson MS, and Oakton HS. All good schools.

Oak Hill part(20171) has a wide range of older single family homes starting from $500s to a mil+
New Town homes are upper 500s though.
We stay in the Floris area and love it. I believe the entire school goes to Rachel Carson, and then get split into Westfield or South Lakes.
Worked out really well for us, right off toll road and County Pkwy, Reston, Fairfax And Chantilly. Like right in the middle. Love the proximity to the airport for drop off/pickups. So spoilt with that actually.

It's a really small part of Herndon south of Route 7 and north of Wiehle near the Fairfax County Parkway. There are actually more homes in Herndon zoned for Westfield than for Langley.

Everyone I know who has kids in Herndon or South Lakes is happy. Herndon offers AP, South Lakes IB. I would not hesitate to send my children to either school.

My daughter is a sophomore at Herndon HS. We live in a $850K house in a nice neighborhood. I think there is a wide range of housing options in Herndon as well as a diverse population. My daughter is in honors classes and has really enjoyed Herndon HS. My guess would be the same for South Lakes HS in Reston.

Can you please share your opinion on Herndon schools, especially Herndon High and South Lakes High. What is your opinion of the area overall? Is it safe/family friendly? Considering moving.

Thanks!
