8th graders hadn't been advanced beyond Geometry up until the 2013-2014 year. This is a new program a few months old. I hope it works out...just a few weeks ago there was an article about a musical prodigy who was going off campus for algebra 2Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You had a 7th grader in Geometry? Please. Every feeder school kid takes a Deal math placement test in the Spring of 5th grade. Many are placed on the Pre-A, Alg.1, Geometry track for 6-7-8. If you'v never heard of that, then you know nothing about the school and shouldn't be trying to give OP advice.
ok. Report back AFTER you've tried to enroll a 9th grader in an AP class.. .even with a teacher recommendation from middle school.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You had a 7th grader in Geometry? This isn't true. We just met with Wison about this an there is no rule in DCPS about what grade you can take APs. Now the vast majority of kids (including suburban kids) aren't ready for AP in 9th grade but for those who are ready they are available --I would assume suburban schools operate the same way.

But you are saying 8th grade geometry, do kids take it in 7th?
There is a new initiative this year where several 7th graders are taking algebra and geometry simultaneously.
