Bikinis are inappropriate for me. I have huge boobs for my height/build (5'0"). I have two boys -- 13 & 11. If I'm with my kids, I don't wear bikinis.

Do it if you feel comfortable in it! I wore one when I went swimming with my DS at 3 months (baby fat and everything) because it was all I had -- and I figured people wouldn't judge too much when I had a baby with me. But after that, I couldn't pull it off without feeling bad about myself. I'd love to wear a bikini!

Why? Bikinis are not inappropriate. I would hope I could instill in my
Daughter a sense of wearing what they are comfortable in without worrying about the judgey bitches. Not op, btw

Not trying to ask this snarkily, but I'm curious, how are they more comfortable? I never really thought of any swimsuit as particularly comfortable or uncomfortable -- they're all pretty stretchy...

Pp who wears bikinis. I have a shortish torso , huge boobs, and long legs. Tankinis are never in a flattering length fore and I'm forever adjusting. Very few offer the option of making the neck and back to Make my boobs more comfortable. One pieces tend to squash my boobs plus look weird due to their size in relation to my torso. I'm just more comfortable in bikinis than anything else

OP here, Lol, I wish. I'm a relatively thin person (size 2-4), and I do enjoy the gym, but I don't look like I did ten years ago, and I haven't had any plastic surgery. If you saw me you'd probably say, oh she looks fit... for a mom of two in her thirties.

At our suburban pool, there are a decent number of moms in bikinis. I think, frankly, wearing a bikini among all sizes has become more common so I don't think it's very surprising to see quite a few woman that are 30+ doing so.

Most of the moms look pretty good, but I have to say, when there's a young 20-something around the pool, it's a strong reminder of what aging does, even if you work hard against it.

I think a lot of moms who still have kids young enough to be in the kiddie pool may still be struggling with post-baby weight and/or lack of time to work out/eat right/etc. I'm much more confident in a bikini now that my kids are older than I was when they were small. (Also, grabby little toddler hands can be a real problem with a bikini.)

Honestly, I think the body changes that come with motherhood make a lot of women feel uncomfortable wearing a bikini (myself included), but if those changes don't make you feel self-conscious or you didn't experience much change in your body once the post-partum dust settles, go for it! When I see a mom rocking a bikini, I'm happy for her! I wish I had the confidence. I think it's a nice example to set.

Do you think there is a mom dress code or is it possible that some women don't like to wear bikinis because they find them less comfortable than tankinis or one pieces? Perhaps they feel less confident than you do in their appearance. Or they feel less modest exposing their torso? Who knows and why should it bother you?

FWIW, go to a local pool and see women - many presumably moms - in bikinis. No dress code here.
