I used to live there. My neighbor would either slug or take a bus from the park and ride on Stringfellow. Can't remember now which one. Later, her husband got a job in DC as well. Now they carpool with one other person in the HOV lane. Daily. They don't seem to mind.

After 10:30 am I don't think its bad going into town from out there. Of course, most people have to be at work before noon, so there's that.

If you are able to drive on HOV and leave by 6 am, it's not terrible. About 45 minutes. It's the evening commute that sucks. I take an alternate way home, just to avoid using 66 (even with HOV!). My DH and I commute together to DC from Cville.

I used to live in Centreville. I no longer live in Centreville. While I love the home we had in Centreville, not having to deal with 66 makes me very happy.

With the volume of cars on 66, they really need to widen that road out to 8 lanes on each side.

Centerville to DC will be bad at rush hour. There is no good time. Sorry.

Braddock is just as bad at rush hour, and it has a zillion lights.

Argh, this is what I keep running into as well: It is either not a problem or it is a nightmare. So, maybe there are specific times when it is awful? Say, going away from DC (between 4 and 7?) but otherwise it is okay? I get that traffic is bad everywhere but relatively speaking, is living in Centreville for a DC job better or worse than, say, Greenbelt/Beltsville? Laurel? Rockville?
