Perhaps instead someplace in SoCal? San Diego, or one of the beach towns near LA?

Cabo San Lucas is amazing and on the west coast, highly recommend!

Big Island or Kauai also incredible if you could find a big house to rent.

OMG, why even say this? Of course I know it's not on the coast but if you look at the map, it's on the western side of the country. So I worded it wrong; was this comment even necessary?

PP again. Check out this VRBO home on the Big Island. Sleeps 10, available in November for around $700-$800 per night.

I haven't stayed in this complex but I've stayed in this resort area many times. You'll have parking privileges at the Beach Club, which is very nice. The beach is small but lovely and it has the some of the best snorkeling from the beach in Hawaii IMO.

I'm sure you'd be able to get another townhouse in the same development for the rest of your party.

I was going to recommend a resort with very nice 3 BR condos on the Big Island for around $500 per night (less if you stay at least 7 nights). You could at the very least have the kids share a room then put grandparents up in the third bedroom. Perhaps the grandparents could help defray the lodging costs?

I'm finding around $1300-1400 on per person on kayak dot com.

Couldn't you get one house for all of you on Hawaii? I think that would be more affordable than separate places.

SoCal? Then it would be cheaper and someone won't even need to travel far.

Mexico is cheaper than Hawaii. You could probably rent a huge house that comes with staff.

Our family wants to meet up in a group of about 15 - 20 for a reunion at Thanksgiving.

The challenge is cost and location. There's a faction coming from Alaska that wants warm weather and ideally a beach. The rest are on the West Coast -- New Mexico, Oregon, LA and Portland. We are the only ones on the East Coast, so it's a given that we will have to fly somewhere.

Some have suggested Hawaii but the airfares are crazy for us, and the house rental is, too. With four people it could come close to 10K in total, which is too much.

Any ideas on a warm-ish location where we could rent a big house? Ideally with a variety of activities to interest teens and adults, some active, some not so much?
