Thanks for all the replies. I'm keeping my eye out for an admin. assistant job. I really am good at that. I wouldn't mind a high school as a registrar or something like that, but I don't want to be a secretary anymore.

Not the OP, but absolutely don't work in a Dr's office or as a sub in a school for a good atmosphere! What are you folks smoking? Lots of sick patients and/or public schools are not usually fun places to work, unless you really want to go into teaching or medicine.

Part time administrative assistant or receptionist in private industry would be nice. You could try a temp agency?

There is a "Montgomery County MD Jobs to post and share" Facebook group, and occasionally they have some good sounding part time jobs--if you are in MD. If not, check around for a similar group in DC or VA.

Do you really think substitute teachers have a pleasant work environment? I have friends who've subbed and they have some truly horrifying stories.

Substitute teacher?
If you have a bachelor's degree you can sub for around 100/day and its not all day; you get off when school gets out. You take assignments by the day so if you don't want to/can't work, you just don't take a job that day - no need to call in.

Be a sub in mcps and tell them you can work with kids with emotional disabilities.

You will get more subbing jobs and you have the experience.

My friend works with kids that are in the ED program and she loves it.

Receptionist/administrative person at a doctor's office, maybe? Not sure what the salary would be, but I think those offices would like to hire someone stable, mature, experienced who isn't planning to switch careers/leave for school/etc. soon.

I am a mom of teenagers so I really still need to be available occasionally during the day (doctor's appts, etc.). I'm looking for a part-time job (30 hours max) in a pleasant atmosphere (I currently work at a psych hospital and it's getting to me). I have clerical and admin skills and good references. I do need to make around $500 a week though. Any thoughts from nice people? I really don't need jerks to answer this- I get enough from the patients here. Thanks.
