When my dad turned 70 I had my out of town siblings come into town for the weekend, just for him. We did a nice dinner out one night, and had a dinner party with his friends the next night. He's a simple guy and he LOVED every second of it.

A dinner a month for the next year or more with your family.

Take him on a trip or pay for a trip for him to go on. Does he golf or fish? Maybe a trip that is focused around a hobby or activity he enjoys. Another idea is do a family trip in his honor, rent a beach housework mountain cabin.

FIL is turning 70, and would like to do something extra special for him, or get him something special. Any ideas? He's soooo hard to buy for, I am completely stumped.
