Call it what you like. The bread is burnt!
I bought 4 Palladin rolls and couldn't eat the crust because it was burnt and rock hard. I had to scrape the insides out, because that was the only edible part.
A total waste of time and money.
If customers complain about the bread being burnt, then they should do something about it and they would sell more.
Like a someone said on Bread Furst's Yelp page: 'The bread at Costco is better.'

Not upper NW, but in DC, I'd try Panorama Bakery in Union Market. Last time I was there half the people in line had French accents.

Not fresh (frozen then thawed) but stuff at whole foods is actually made on France.

Haven't had brioche but the other stuff I've had at Fresh Baguette in Bethesda has been really good. French friends recommended it. They also do the lunch program for Lycee Rochambeau so there's a stamp of approval.
