Funny, I like the bread and nothing else! I don't love the bagels. The baguette is probably the best I've ever had in the city. I can't stand the confused service and the fact that they seem to have changed around all of their procedures every time I go in there. And then there's the $4 bits of caramel by the counter. . .

I also don't care for bread furst or Starbucks. The bread is just so hard. My kid loves it though

+1 - christ I swear I thought I was the only one who doesn't care for Starbucks burnt bitter coffee. Its like you don't admit to anyone that you don't like their coffee, they'll think there's something wrong with you.

I also love the breads there - they are soft on the inside and really crusty on the outside. Different strokes and all...

The bagels are hard, but I don't think burnt. They are sweeter than NY style bagels.

read today's article in the food section about the owner. he says he fights with customers bc they say the bread is burnt but he says it is intentional bc the sugars carmelize. i happen to love it but i do think it is quasi burnt (but i love burnt breads).
