I also know an Ellie who is Eleanor.

Or you could use Ellen. I like that name too.

It makes me think of an elephant. There is some kid's show where the elephant is named Ellie.

I know two Ellies. I don't love it. Very popular and cutesy.

I'd go with Ava over Ellie. Also popular. But not cutesy, at least.

I told him not to tell his family, and now look what happened when spilled the beans to mine
I can't decide if I like Elle or Ella better with a -ley last name.

Super cute. I know one, short for Eleanor. I love it. Also, I have an Evelyn and we may end up calling her Ellie rather than Evie, just because my son does, so full disclosure.

My 8 year-old niece is just Ellie- not a nick-name for anything and I think it's really cute.

Sigh. I always thought I'd name baby girl Ava, until I saw the name Ellie in my baby book. DH was okay with Ava since I loved it, but he fell in love with Ellie. We would name her Ella for resume purposes, but call her Ellie. Do you think it sounds country or southern? When I told my family, they hated it. My mom joked it reminded her of the tv show Beverly Hillbillies. Our last name ends in -ley so is that too rhymey? Just want to hear other people's thoughts. She's either going to be an Ava or Ella "Ellie."
