I think it's great, rather than a huge break in the summer. I'd love more of a break in the spring (2-3 weeks) and in the fall (2-3 weeks). Friends of mine in good school districts in the Raleigh, NC area and the Austin, TX area have kids in the so-called "year-round" school districts. The kids like that they have more frequent breaks, and camps have sprung up to coincide with the longer quarter breaks, so it's no harder than dealing with the long-ass break in the summer.
