Met my DH online 5 years ago. He didn't even hold my hand till the 4th date. It was pretty awesome actually. Married 3 years, one kid. There's something to be said for that going slow thing that somehow I missed out on in my first 25 years of romances.

+1. Another one where it took 3 dates and I think I had to be fairly straightforward with my now DH.

I made out with my now husband on a couch covered with a tapestry after eating pasta with ragu on paper plates off crates he used as end tables.
Your situation sounds much better already

I was surprised when I got home to find a text message from him saying that he had a good time etc. I've since asked him WTF and he said he was just super nervous.

SO... my point is, no it doesn't mean anything.

Ha! I love that you got an answer to your WTF

Dh and I met 5 years ago. We had a rocky first date because we both hate and are awful at small talk. A few drinks in and our date turned awesome and I gave him a kiss goodnight. Later, after we got serious, he said he wouldn't have asked me out on a second date without that kiss because he wasn't sure if the second half of our date saved my impression of him after the first half.

All I can say is thank you dirty martinIs and manhattans or I wouldn't have wound up with my great husband.

If you met online, a lot of first dates take place at coffee shops or a casual lunch.....so not much kissing takes place. Usually second or third.

My 4th anniversary is this month. After our first date I shook his hand lol! And he hugged me. I was kind of shy. The second date, I went to shake his hand again LOL and he kissed me. I was shocked, but happy he made the first move lol

Man here. If I enjoy a first date, usually kiss the woman on the cheek unless it is obvious she wants it on the lips. But did have two LTRs where it took up to date three for any kind of kiss.

I can't remark on the current landscape but, in general, I think that it really depends on the people. Is there no chemistry? Or are you holding back for another reason?

Did you otherwise have a nice time?

I doubt it. A kiss on a first date doesn't mean much - unless you've known each other for a long time.
