Mine are 15 and 17 and take evening showers.

13yr old still at night. She plays sports so it is a must.

My high schoolers do sports after school, so they shower when they get home and before we eat dinner.

Mine is 13 and showers in the morning.

My 10 year old DS asked to switch to mornings in the middle of 3rd grade. He wanted more free time at night and the shower was cutting into his free time. Bedtime was 8:30 pm and stayed that. Always had to remind him to get a Shower every night. Now that he takes morning showers, I NEVER have to remind him. He actually gets up before me and has his shower done before I get up!! It's his routine now and only changes on the weekends if he doesn't have somewhere to go first thing in the morning - then he showers later. ?

OP here -- this is our situation as well. I just wondered if other kids were more independent/mature about bathing. They hate to get in, but then they hate to get out as well! I would like to be done with enforcing the showering... but apparently, this is typical.

Adult here. I still shower at night.

She never did. She is heavily involved in sports, so comes home very sweaty. Who wants to sleep in sweat?

Some adults still only shower at night, and not in the morning. As long as they don't smell, should be fine to continue showering at night, especially if they play sports during the day.

Mine started to prefer a.m. showers around 5th grade.

DD is almost 12 and still showers at night. I don't plan to force morning showers. I have to prompt her to take a shower, but she'll always go do it when I say "Go turn on the water for your shower."

High School.

Currently both my 15 and 9 year old boys take evening showers. I really dont remember when my 15 year old started showering without any prompting from me. I'm thinking around 11 or 12. My 9 year old still whines and fusses every single night when I tell him to go to take his shower.

My 15 year old is pretty independent. I figure he will switch to morning showers when he wants.

What age did your child start taking morning showers?

Did you initiate the switch or did the child?

When did your child take full responsibility for taking showers --- i.e. my kids always complain and try to get out of taking a shower at night (they are on an every-other-night schedule)... when did you stop "enforcing" showers (whether night or morning bathing) and when did they take over knowing that it was something they needed to do?
