Really!? Do you remember the source? Top 10 is really high (especially for a name that is currently at 295 (JUliette) or 238 (Juliet) according to nameberry.com)

SSA has a popularity over time tool for names. Check out the trajectory there. We picked my daughter's name (Penelope) a few years before she was born, and it entered the top 100 the year she was born. I wasn't upset about it, but I wasn't surprised either because I had seen it was on the upswing for a few years (regardless of those who want to attribute it to the Kardashians).

My neighbor has a Julianne. Went to school with a Juliette. Nickname Ju Ju Bean.

For whatever it's worth, my dd's name was like 240th on the SSA list when she received it in 2003.

Today it's top-20.

She's the only one with the name in her entire middle school.

So, I think pretty much anything under top 10 is less likely to result in multiple kids with the same name in school. With a top-5 name you might get three or four in the school -- rarely in the same class.

I was born in 1976, and there was not ONE Ashley (of any spelling) in my entire grade. We had no Melissas in elementary school, one in middle school and two in high school. 3-5 Jennifers. But never any Ashleys.

I don't think it's all that popular, and it's for good reason: it's an ugly sounding name.

I grew up with a girl named Juliette and she hated all the "romeo and juliette" jokes she got.

What's wrong with a popular name? Why would you give a child an unpopular name?

I know one Juliette. She's 10.

We were thinking of the name Juliette but have another child who turns out to have a too-popular-for-me name (I know people have different thoughts on this, but personally I don't want the first thought for someone hearing our daughter's name to be, "Oh, so you were born in 2015?").

This article claims that it will be in the top 50 soon, although it's below #200 now.

What do you think?
