I say send a thank you email to him and his wife. Write what 12:41 told you to.

And ugh on the pjs. I get invited each year to a casual acquaintance's open house each Christmas Eve Day (I'm Jewish). I never go. This year, I took my DD and we went. Hostess was wearing sweat pants. There were never more than ten people there the entire time. Super awkward.

Since it was so casual, I would send an email from either your personal or work email, over the weekend that just says, [boss], dh and I had such a nice time last night. Please thank [your wife] for making such a great dinner and thank you for inviting us. OP

Went to boss' house for informal dinner last night (very awkwardly informal - he was barefoot and his wife was in her PJs!). Do I send a thank you note or email? When is it appropriate. I don't have a blackberry, he does. I can it wait to Monday morning? Or should I send it from my personal email?

Sorry to overthink this- but my relationship w boss is bery strained and awkward. I want to make sure I dot every "i" and cross every "t"
