this is actually a valid point. The cable providers try to lure you in with the bundling. So, if you just want internet, it's still $100, but you can have cable too for $105! Then all of a sudden you are paying for extra boxes and channels and services and that's where it gets ridiculous. We suck it up and pay the $100 (or whatever they want to screw you with) but refuse to give into anything else. Maybe someday there will be competition!

Some blu-ray players have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu built in.

I have Comcast for cable and Verizon for internet, so in theory, I could cut Comcast. My TV picks up over the air channels (NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, and a few others).

Cut cable TV. We still have cable internet. Though we used to have DSL. And we had Clear for awhile.

Of course they did this 5 days after I signed a 2-year Verizon Fios contract. But I hope this means it will be last cable contract I sign!

With Internet tv, do you have to know what you want to watch? I'm a surfer and I just stop when I find something interesting. If I have to surf, load a show, and then move on, it would drive me crazy.

so dish are idiots for calling this product 'slingtv' when they also own slingbox.

slingbox is something different. slingtv has nothing to do with slingbox.

slingtv has no hardware requirement, though you can stream it through roku or firetv or xboxone if you have one.

if you dont have those, you can just stream it through your computer/laptop and plug that into your tv via hdmi.

no dishes. the 'tv' comes through your internet (which can be any provider - fios, etc).

sports is the lynchpin that keeps cable from breaking.

"slingtv" is a new internet-only subscription for 20 bucks a month (no contract) and you get espn, espn2, cnn, tnt, tbs, cartoon network, disney, hgtv, travel channel and a couple of others more.

Huge news that could really disrupt the cable tv market as there are many that would drop cable if they could still get espn outside of it.
