Oh, and congrats on the new little one, OP 15 years is close to 2X the large gap I have, but our second was a very happy surprise after many, many years of secondary infertility and several IUI attempts with one ending in a miscarriage. Got pregnant without help as we were about to return to the clinic for our last tries before calling it quits on a second. Sweet surprise baby is napping in my lap right now - she's 14 weeks today. Good luck!

It's not for me. I was invited to a friend's shower and I was kind of surprised she was having one.

You're surprised she doesn't have all her baby gear and clothing from 15 years ago?

I wouldn't mind this. This shower has a guest list of over 50 and it has registry info.

Jerk. That is no the point of a shower.

Not tacky. You don't have all the stuff and it is a new kid. I think little celebration are appropriate for each kid. It used to be baptisms but if people don't do that, then a sprinkle or welcome party is good. And definitely for a mom who is have kids so far apart with none in between.

Fine. I am not a fan of baby showers but its not like they saved their stuff and most of the gear would be too outdated to use by safety standards.

Not tacky at all.
If the shower is for you, congrats!
If the shower is for someone you are trying to judge, just stay home.

It's not tacky at all. It doesn't matter whether you're 15 years older or 15 years younger, the reasons for a shower remain the same: to celebrate the parents-to-be, buy them cute things, and ease the financial load.

Don't ask for a shower, but if someone wants to throw one for you, why not? It's a party. If someone is mortally offended, they won't go.

Do you consider that tacky? Kids are the same gender.
